DLK software is crafted with care to provide quality resources for education. The software is modular and topic related, so that IT access can be integrated with traditional classroom techniques, not seen a some alternative to, or diversion from the subject in hand. The software is surprisingly budget friendly, the cost of an entire suite is less than many would be prepared to pay for a single topic! For ease of navigation of this site we have included a contents page. Free software. Bona fide educational institutions can acquire one module free! What's so different about DLK? DLK Software is designed to run on Windows 3.1 and above including Windows 95/8, NT and networked windows, and is designed to be topic specific. This means that you can select a specific module to fit in with a topic in your scheme of work, facilitating relevant practice for that topic. Key features of the practice modules include: On Screen Monitoring All of the practice modules have on screen monitoring at three levels. An image will be moving up the screen, (typically a person climbing a ladder), that is visible at all times. This allows the teacher to spot the achievers and non-achievers as the classroom is 'walked'. A Scrollable window can be shown that holds a record of the attempts for the session, and the results of those attempts. Graphical presentation of these results at the click of a button. The results listings and graphs can be printed out if required. The printouts can form a tangible result for the student of the session's efforts, (something that is lacking in many computer sessions). Self Differentiating A key feature of all the practice modules is the self-differentiation. All the modules start at a comparatively low level, and as the student succeeds so the challenge increases. When the student begins to fail the challenge is reduced until success re emerges. This avoids the constant failure situation that some students find themselves in, and mirrors the action that teachers take in conventional teaching situations. No Special IT Skills Required The DLK Math's range is designed to be robust and user friendly. Teachers who have had no experience with IT can be confident that the questions that they get from students will be about math's, not how to drive the computer! Pleasing Graphics The programs in this range are not games, but that does not mean that the screens should be the old fashioned flat images. Students expect screens to be interesting, after all most of them will have had access to visually stimulating games. At the same time students do not expect to be treated as toddlers, they want pleasantly presented challenges, and this is what is offered by the DLK range of software. There are currently three suites of software in the DLK educational range: MathsWork - Numeracy, Literacy - Literacy ToolSet - Useful tools for teachers etc. OnBoard - Truly interactive software for white-boards
