There is no requirement for either teacher or student
to have any IT knowledge prior to using any of the modules.
The practice modules have common features that include:
An on screen progress indicator that allows the teacher walking the
classroom to spot low and high achievers. This indicator is also a
motivator for the student, and this motivation can be reinforced by an
incentive of setting a group a challenge to be ‘first to the top’,
perhaps with a ‘merit’ or house point etc. for the first.
A results box available on demand. This results listing shows all the
results for the session, and can be shown graphically.
A printed version of the results can provide a tangible result for the
student's efforts, and this could be ‘marked’ by the teacher and
retained in the student's workbook.
Self-Differentiation. As the student succeeds the challenge increases,
and vice versa. When the student begins to fail the challenge is
reduced, until success re emerges, reflecting the action that many
teachers take in conventional classroom situations.
Options to turn the speech on and off, set the speed of the voice and
switch music on and off.
In the majority of modules teachers can prepare their own data sets if
they so desire.
The colour of the background and text can be varied to help students
with visual problems. (Shift + F12).
The Font used can be changed on each programme (shift+F12).
Voice is changed on the menu screen, (Shift +F12), follow the on screen
instructions.
